P Chidambaram has backed prior assessment of the impact that policies and regulations are likely to have on all stakeholders, an exercise that will bring in more transparency in policy-making and make it more effective. Pitching for operationalising some elements of the Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission's recommendations, Chidambaram said on Wednesday, "Detailed and structural stakeholders consultations before issue of new regulations, that can be done under the present law."
